ABOUT US

Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Women's Wellness Program

Why

Because Lesbian, Bisexual, and Trans (LBT) women:

  • are more likely to receive substandard care,
  • often remain silent about important health issues, and
  • have the richest concentration of risk factors for breast cancer, which include having children later in life or not at all, not participating in ongoing well-woman exams, and not having adequate insurance to cover exams.  Click here for information on low- or no-cost screenings.

We are committed to

  • provide breast health educational information to LBT women and raise awareness of breast cancer in our population.
  • connect LBT women to resources and services through safe and accessible means.
  • provide health care providers with cultural competency trainings.

Getting involved

  • Recommend a health care provider.  If you’ve had a positive experience with health care providers, please recommend them. We will contact them, provide cultural competency training, and add them to our Health and Wellness Directory for LGBT affirmative providers.
  • Join the LBT Women's Wellness Program Group and create real change within our community!  See information above for the next meeting time and place.
  • Attend an LBT Women’s Wellness Project sponsored event.
  • Check out The Center’s website for upcoming events.
  • Donate to the LBT Women’s Wellness Project or organize a fundraiser.
