Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Women's Wellness Program
The next meeting of the LBT Women's Wellness Program is scheduled for April 2, 6 pm at Odyssey Youth Center at 1121 S. Perry. The Lesbian, Bisexual and Trans Women’s Wellness Program Group is open to interested women who want to create change within our community and help increase access for the entire LGBTQ community to health care that is appropriate and meaningful to US.
Why
Because Lesbian, Bisexual, and Trans (LBT) women:
- are more likely to receive substandard care,
- often remain silent about important health issues, and
- have the richest concentration of risk factors for breast cancer, which include having children later in life or not at all, not participating in ongoing well-woman exams, and not having adequate insurance to cover exams. Click here for information on low- or no-cost screenings.
We are committed to
- provide breast health educational information to LBT women and raise awareness of breast cancer in our population.
- connect LBT women to resources and services through safe and accessible means.
- provide health care providers with cultural competency trainings.
Getting involved
- Recommend a health care provider. If you’ve had a positive experience with health care providers, please recommend them. We will contact them, provide cultural competency training, and add them to our Health and Wellness Directory for LGBT affirmative providers.
- Join the LBT Women's Wellness Program Group and create real change within our community! See information above for the next meeting time and place.
- Attend an LBT Women’s Wellness Project sponsored event.
- Check out The Center’s website for upcoming events.
- Donate to the LBT Women’s Wellness Project or organize a fundraiser.
